The governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Mr. Raghuram Rajan, emphasized that the Oil Corporations should be authorised to fix the diesel prices.
With the current conditions where the crude oil prices are coming down in the international market, the governor felt that this is the ideal situation when the government should stop holding control and fixing oil prices.
The governor was speaking in an event organised in Bombay. He appreciated that the new ‘Jandhan’ scheme was an excellent scheme. However, the government should be watchful in its execution and should not show too much haste.
He also felt that the procedure for checking the various loan applications should be thoroughly intensified especially in the background of increasing trend of banking crimes.
