Early intervention is always being recommended by doctors for prevention of diabetes and heart diseases. Now, researchers have identified a precise quantifying statement that proper diet and exercise regime will reduce the probability of getting diabetic or heart disease by 75 per cent.

The above result is stated from a study result carried out by Dr A Ramachandran’s Diabetes Hospitals in Chennai. According to the study, when text messages are sent recommending them to exercise and stay fit, people get motivated towards it and perform the same. Out of the total population of men, only 18 per cent of those who receive periodic motivational texts fell diabetic, whereas there were 27 per cent diabetic men from the population which did not receive any such message, said Dr Nanditha Arun, a diabetologist who was involved in the study.

As a follow-up of the research, over 422 men belonging to the previous study were analyzed. Out of this, 130 of them had normal levels of sugar and 306 were in pre-diabetic state. At the end of two years of study, 7 out of those 130 normal men and 71 out of 306 fell diabetic.
