Cabinet Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Mr. Prakash Javadekar, informed that the central government has been exploring the possibilities of permitting AIR (All India Radio) news broadcasts in the different FM channels.
While talking to the media persons on Friday (19th September), the minister told that various information bits such as traffic movements, government plans, etc are being presented as announcements as part of their programmes in FM radio channels.
The demand for permitting news broadcast on radio is a long-pending issue. As a step towards implementing this idea, the private FM channels can receive the AIR news and broadcast them on their channels.
This action will serve as the first step for bringing in more effective changes.
