Distribution of Colorful, high-quality PVC Voter ID has begun

Distribution of Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Elector’s Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) was started on Thursday by the District Election Officer Vikram Kapur. These new cards will have the color photograph of the voter.
The distribution began at Anna Nagar during an event at the Ripon Building where the new cards were dispatched to people belonging to the constituency. The exclusive quality of these new cards is that they will have high quality photo and will be tamper-proof, says an official.
So far, over 1.36 lakh new cards are kept ready for distribution. These will be distributed to those who got themselves registered after January 2014 in 16 constituencies in Chennai.
That obviously gives rise to a question about those who already own a card. For those who have election id already, you may be patient for quite some time as you are to wait to get the new ones. And, keep in mind that you will have to bear with Rs 25 as the charge for getting a better card.
