Overcrowded Railway stations: Echo of successive festival holidays!!

All railway stations starting from Chennai Central are overflowing with crowds visiting their native places for the successive festival holidays. Hordes of passengers wait for long hours to grab a seat or berth.

There is a succession of holidays starting today (Gandhi Jayanthi, 2nd October), Vijayadasami, Saturday, Sunday, and Bakrid on Monday, 6th October. So, thousands of passengers have planned their trips to their native places starting form yesterday.

The passengers who could not get a seat/berth even after reservation & the passengers travelling on just an open ticket wait for long hours to grab a seat/berth in the 2nd class unreserved coaches.

To catch trains starting early morning, passengers have been waiting since last 2 days having arrived at the station so early! Similarly, thousands of passengers were waiting to catch a berth/seat in the trains starting yesterday night.

Indeed, the stations have been flooded with passengers over the last 2 days. There were huge crowds not only in the long distance trains but also in the suburban trains.

Special trains for Deepavali

Trains are being scheduled as per the newly released railway time-table. The arrangements are about to be completed. Then, announcement will be made on the special trains to be run for the festival occasion of Deepavali.
