With the scheduled closure of all shops in the Koyambedu wholesale market on Tuesday, 7th October, traders informed that there was an increase in the sales of vegetables on Monday, 6th October.

Koyambedu Tomato Traders’’ Association President, Mr. Thiyagarajan, informed this.

Traders at Koyambedu have informed that they will observe one day closure on Tuesday, 7th October in support of the release of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from the Bangalore jail. Subsequently, the prices of vegetable rose. Still, because of the ensuing strike, all retail traders bought more vegetables than usual.

Traders from other places in Chennai sell vegetables at a higher price of Rs. 5/- to Rs. 10/- per kg than the wholesale vegetable prices at Koyambedu.
