Chennaites to experience rains today

Posted on: 08/Oct/2014 9:49:45 AM
On Tuesday, Chennaites experienced rains in several places and its suburbs. This was due to the impact of the upper air circulation over west-central Bay of Bengal, off the Andhra Pradesh coast. This system is expected to bring rain or thundershowers in some areas of the city on Wednesday.

S.R. Ramanan, director of Area Cyclone Warning Centre, said the southwest monsoon was still prevailing, and a depression over the north Andaman sea may intensify. But this will not have any impact on Tamil Nadu.

The northeast monsoon that brings the major share of the State’s annual rainfall usually sets in around October 20.
