Krishna water, considered a lifeline to maintain the water supply for Chennai will reach Chennai in another four days. As per the 1983 agreement, Tamil Nadu is to get 12 tmc ft from Andhra Pradesh and this can be given in two spells. The Kandaleru reservoir, the terminal storage point of the Krishna river system in Andhra Pradesh, has storage of about 24 tmc ft. As per the agreement, from February to May 2014, 5.8 TMC water reached Chennai.

At this juncture, Krishna water was suspended all of a sudden which disrupted the water supply in Chennai. In view of this, the PWD department held talks with Andhra Pradesh officials and also handed over a request letter. Now 500 cusecs water has been released. This will  reach the city in another four days.
