‘Madras Eye’ spreading fast in Chennai!

‘Madras Eye’ has been spreading quite fast in Chennai.

Normally, ‘Madras Eye’ comes and spreads only during the summer season.

However, even though it is presently the rainy season, doctors inform that Madras Eye is spreading fast.

Madras Eyes is caused by a virus and harms the cornea of the eye.

The effect of this virus generally stays for 4 to 5 days. As there are cases where some viruses can cause severe damage to the eye, the doctors strongly recommend that the  people affected by Madras Eye should immediately consult the doctors.

The doctors have also advised strongly against using steroid medicines.

The doctors warn that there has been a general tendency to apply steroid medicines for immediate cure. However, these will have harmful side-effects.

The persons affected by Madras eye should take only medicines prescribed by the doctors. This diseases spreads mainly through the hands. Hence, it is better to wash the hands regularly and keep them clean. They should avoid using the kerchiefs and towels of those affected by Madras Eye.

Students and office-goers should take leave when affected with Madras Eye. This will help to prevent the disease from spreading to others.
