There has been a complaint that a daily power-cut has been in operation in Chennai suburban areas over the last few days.
With the intensification of North-east monsoon, Chennai and other districts of Tamil Nadu have been experiencing heavy rains.
Consequently, there have been a number of incidents such as electricity wires snapping and falling on the road, faults in transformers, etc leading to power failure. As per complaints received from the public, this is especially more prevalent in suburban areas such as Velachery, Pallikkaranai, Medavakkam, Sholinganallur, Tambaram, etc where there the voltage levels are low for up to 10 hours in a day and a daily power-cut for 5 hours. The problems are more acute during the nights.
