The most important event in the schedule of ‘Kandha Sashti’ festival is ‘Soorasamharam’.
Hordes of devotees are gathering at Thiruchendur for this occasion scheduled tomorrow, Wednesday, 29th October.
Out of the 6 divine mountainous abodes of Lord Muruga’s temples, Thiruchendur stands 2nd! Celebrations of Kandha Sashti festival commenced here on 24th October. Special Poojas & daily offerings are conducted daily.
Soorasamharam is scheduled to be conducted at the Thiruchendur beach in the evening on Wednesday, 29th October.
The temple corridors will open early morning 1.00 AM. Viswaroopa Deeparadhana will be performed at 1.30 AM. Udhayamarthanda Abhishekham will be performed at 2.00 AM. ‘Uchi kala Abhishekham’ will be performed at 9.00 AM. ‘Sayaratchai Deeparadhanai’ will be conducted in the afternoon at 3.30 PM.
Lord Muruga will arrive at the beach by 4.30 Pm for the event of Soorasamharam. After the Soorasamharam, special Pooja & deeparadhanai will be perfomed at Santhosha Mandapam’.for the God & Goddess.
Lord Muruga & His Consort will be carried on special flower palanquins in a procession and the ‘Saya Abhishekham’ will be performed in fro not the 108 Devar enclosure.
On 30th October, the 7th day of the festival, temple corridors will open by early morning 3.00 AM. Viswaroopam and Udhayamarthanda Abhishekham and other special poojas will be performed. Lord Muruga’s consort, Goddess Deivayanai, will arrive at the sanctum sanctorum by 6.00 AM.
‘Garland exchanging ceremony’ between Lord Muruga & His Consort Deivayanai will be performed.
Divine wedding of the God & Goddess will be performed in the night.
Devotees have been arriving not only from the other Tamil Nadu districts, but also from other states and countries like Sri Lanka & Malaysia.
