Central government is earnestly exploring the possibilities for masking the tests for blood sugar level free for the public.
There has been a trend of steep increase every year in the number of people affected by diabetes in the country.
Currently, it is estimated that there are 6.7 Crores diabetics in India.
India occupies the 2nd place in the diabetics count.
The 1st place goes to China with 9.2 Crores diabetics.
With the current trend, it is estimated that there would be more than 10 crore diabetic in India by the year 2030! India would then be the 1st.
In this scenario, the central government is exploring to make the blood sugar level tests free for public all over the country.
The central minister for Science & Technology, Mr. Jitendra Singh, informed that consultations are under progress with the other central government departments on this issue.
