Madurai Kamaraj University has instituted Innovation awards for faculty members of the university departments, constituent and affiliated colleges.
In a press release S. David Amirtha Rajan, Director in-charge, Centre for Educational Research, said on Monday that higher education teachers who tried out innovative practices had to present their paper with complete details.It could be in the areas of e-learning, e-governance, industry-institute interaction, curriculum, teaching-learning practices, promotion of research activities, examination and evaluation, student support services, quality enhancement, behavioral problems among students, co-curricular activities, guidance and counseling, administration and organisation, health and physical education or extension activities.
The paper should not be based on any research conducted for the award of degree or diploma and should not have been submitted for any other publication or fellowship or competition. A declaration to this effect and also to the originality of the paper was to be signed and given by the authors.
A three-member committee comprising two former Vice-Chancellors and an eminent expert in higher education would assess the papers. It will be a blind assessment .The assessment would be carried out on the basis of various criteria such as planning of scientific solution, newness, compatibility, adaptability, utility, cost effectiveness and whether it contributed to improving the quality of higher education.Authors of the selected papers would have to make an oral presentation.
The first three winners from university and the first three winners from constituent and affiliated colleges would receive awards and citation from the Vice-Chancellor at a function to be held in connection with the Teacher`s Day. Besides, all other participants would receive certificates of participation.
