Minister of railways Sadhanandha Gowda stated that there is no alteration in rail ticket rates despite reduction in diesel price. Following a dip in price in crude oil in the international market, there was a reduction in price of diesel in two installments. The fuel got reduced by Rs 5.62.

During previous political rule, decisions were made to fix the railway ticket rates according to the fluctuations in fuel rates. BJP also complied with this rule. At this point, after prolonged time period, there is now a significant decrease in diesel price. This has given rise to a question if price of rail tickets will be reduced.

Amidst these questions and commotions, in a meeting that was held in New Delhi, the Minister of Railways Sadhanandha Gowda made his presence. On questioning him about the possibility of reduction in rate of rail fares, the minister said reduction of rail fares is not taken into consideration for now. Change in railway fares will be made only once in 6 months, he added. Hence, the discussion will be made only during the month of December.
