According to a recent research, air pollution has affected Indian grain production adversely, due to increases in smog. The research was analyzed along with data of 30 years, stating that densely populate states yielding just 50% of the usual grain production from 2010.

Potential food production decrease of around 90% is lined to smog that is created from various pollutants and black carbon. Another 10% has been added for changes that are due to precipitation levels and global warming.

The study is expected to benefit in the long run and to help clean the air. The experts also suggested that at important economic discussions, where air pollution is the subject, agriculture is not taken into account. Historical data were considered for the study on crop yields, precipitation and emissions for drawing conclusions. This research also is said to confirm the statements that were issued by scientists and chemists on food production and air pollution in the past. International action is a must for tackling global warming and to reduce effectively smog. According to the experts, there exists technology for fixing the issue. Rural residents should be taught to use only cleaner fuels and trucks require good particulate diesel filters. These are easy to follow and better public polices can help to achieve goals.
