Shri Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Railways today inaugurated the 15th All India Police Band Competition hosted by Railway Protection Force at Chhatrasal Stadium in Model Town in Delhi. The Band Competition-2014 is being held from 5th to 8th Nov. 2014. Shri Krishna Chaudhary DG, RPF was also present at the opening ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Manoj Sinha said that India has witnessed use of trumpets, drums etc on the battlefields since ancient times. The Indian bands used only western tunes before independence but later on these bands developed many patriotic tunes based on Indian themes. He said that bands play a very important role in boosting the morale and enthusiasm of security personnel. He hoped that the participants will give their best in the spirit of healthy competition.
The Minister took the salute of the March-past presented by the participants.
There are 31 participants in the event which include:- Andhra Pradesh Police, Assam Police, Bihar Police, Chhatisgarh Police, Delhi Police, Goa Police, Gujarat Police, J&K Police, Jharkhand Police, Karnataka Police, Kerala Police, Madhya Pradesh Police, Maharashtra Police, Mizoram Police, Nagaland Police, Orissa Police, Pondicherry Police, Punjab Police, Rajasthan Police, Tamil Nadu Police, Telangana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, West Bengal Police, Assam Rifle, Border Security Force(BSF), Seema Shastra Bal(SSB), Central Industrial Security Force(CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Police Academy, Hyderabad, Railway Protection Force (RPF)
