According to the department of school education, 11th standard students require minimum 35 per cent marks to score pass mark in their final examination.
In the state of Tamil Nadu, class 10th and 12th exams are considered of utmost importance. A student can step into his or her twelfth grade if and only if the student excels in plus-one exam. In class eleventh, there is no specific standard followed, and varied pass mark benchmarks are set up in varied schools.
But, this doesn’t work out practically to decide on the pass mark of a student that is specific to each and every school. These schools take under consideration certain criteria and on discussing with their staff members, decide on the benchmark fixed for plus-one pass mark.
Amidst this, the chief secretary of school education department says the pass mark for any plus-one student is 35 per cent, be it any school - government, government aided or matriculation. This benchmark is already in existence, he pointed.
He also added that necessary action will be taken against schools that fixes lesser or higher scores as minimum pass mark for plus-one exam.
