Healthy Food Recipes - Ginger kulambu

Ingredients:
  • Toor dal – 3 spoon
  • Ginger – for about 2 inches in size
  • Coconut – if required
  • Pepper – 1 spoon
  • Dry chillies – 2 Nos
  • Onions – 3
  • Tomatoes – 3
  • Tamarind and salt – as required
  • Curry leaves as required
  • Mustard seeds, Fennel seeds and Fenugreek seeds – ½ spoon each
  • Oil – 3 spoons
  • Turmeric powder – ½ spoon
  • Sambar powder – 1 spoon
Method:

1.       Place a pan and heat one spoon of oil. Fry the toor dal in oil

2.      Peel off the skin from ginger and add this to oil. Add pepper, dry red chillies and curry leaves to this. Fry all these ingredients together


 

3.      Take this fried mixture and grind it in a mixer along with coconut and required amount of water. Make it a coarse powder.

4.      Place a pan again and heat two spoons of oil. Add mustard seeds, fennel seeds and fenugreek seeds to this.

5.      Add chopped onions, tomatoes and curry leaves and fry in oil

6.      Once it gets fried well, add some water and add turmeric powder, sambar powder, and salt. Allow the content to get boiled for about 3 minutes (Note that we already have a mixture of pepper and chilli. So, make sure to add confined amount of sambar powder)

7.      Add the ground mixture into the pan

8.      Once it comes to a boil, add tamarind water to it

9.      Allow it to boil for five minutes and switch off the stove
