Dyslexic children participated in a fireless cooking competition which was organized by the Madras Dyslexia Foundation. About 10 to 15% of children in schools are with dyslexia or learning disability. However, only very few schools are having dyslexic center for children in the city which is approximately 10 in number.
Parents must become aware of dyslexia, but most of the parents never want to accept that their child has the learning problem. The founder and president of Madras Dyslexia Foundation said that the team would insist and initiate every school to have dyslexic learning center. The center has also assessed that about 500 students are facing this disability every year and they need proper training. Moreover, to improve skills of these children, many activities are being conducted.
Above all, after the release of ‘Taare Zameen Par’, awareness about dyslexia is hugely increased. The MDF center further insists that parents must try to understand their children’s disability to learn instead of pressurizing them.
To say, these children are very creative compared to normal ones and they must be encouraged in their area of interest, rather forcing for something which they don’t like. According to the statistical estimate, there are about 30 million dyslexic children in India.
