Chennai Corporation’s gesture to disabled people

Posted on: 02/Dec/2014 11:57:13 AM
The Chennai Corporation will direct private buildings without disabled-friendly infrastructure to make necessary conversions.  The Chennai Corporation has already inculcated its officials in all the 15 zones to conduct a ward-level survey to identify private buildings frequented by persons with disability and serve notices to those without suitable infrastructure. Owners of buildings that fail to commission disabled-friendly facilities will be penalised. More than 800 Corporation-owned buildings are disabled friendly. Officials have also been instructed to cancel licences of commercial establishments that allow vehicles to be parked on footpaths, obstructing easy movement of disabled persons.
