The state government of Tamil Nadu has decided to build an 8-lane highway between Ennore & Mahabalipuram with the aid of the central government.
Presently, activities such as land estimation have commenced.
Tamil Nadu Highway Planning officials informed that the may be taken up in the next financial year.
The proposed 8-lane highway in the outer ring would be from Ennore to Mahabalipuram covering Singaperumal Koil, Sriperumbudur, Thiruvallur, Thamaraipakkam, Periyapalaiyam, and Kattuppalli.
A new road of 59 km distance is to be laid and the already existing road of 52 km distance will be renovate. 25.5 km of a link road to the North Port will also be laid as a part of this outer ring road.
The road would be 100 metres wide with a central part of 22 metres allotted for other public transport and the balance width would be used as 8-lane road with 4 on either side of the road paving for an 8-lane highway.
The planning officials are now engaged in land acquisition and other associated activities. Once this is completed, the project will commence during end of the next financial year.
