The closure of the 18-year-old income tax returns case against AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa and her friend N Sasikalaa has been delayed further with the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate (economic offences) adjourning the case to January 8. On November 27, they had submitted a total of Rs 1, 99,93,061 to the IT department including compounding charges as well as litigation costs. When the matter came for hearing on Thursday, their counsel sought adjournment as the final order from the IT department was awaited. Additional chief metropolitan magistrate R Dakshinamurthy posted the matter to January 8.
