Southern Railways memorable gift to southern passengers

The Southern Railway will present a memorable gift to passengers from the southern districts in the form of electric locos, which will be fitted to six express trains, to reduce the journey time from the region to Chennai by 60 minutes.
Speaking to reporters after a speed trial of the electric loco here on Thursday, Sathish Kumar Mittal, Commissioner of Railway Safety, and A.K. Rastogi, Divisional Railway Manager, said Nellai, Ananthapuri, Kanyakumari, Guruvayoor, Nellai–Tiruchi Inter-city and Pearl City express trains would be fitted with electric locos once permission was granted in the next two weeks. All these trains would be hauled by electric locos from month-end to reduce the journey time from Tirunelveli to Chennai by an hour.
