‘Sorgavasal’ will be opened at the famous Sri Parthsarathy Swami Temple in Triplicane, Chennai, on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadasi & New Year (which fall on the same day).
Sri Parthasarathy Temple has been traditionally celebrating the annual occasion of opening of ‘sorgavasal` known as ‘Thirumozhi Thirunal’ or ‘Thiruvaimozhi Thirunal’ in a grand manner.
On the occasion of Vaikunat Ekadasi this year, falling on the New Year Day,special Viswaroopam, Alankaram, and Dhanur Madham Poojas will be performed between 12.00 midnight and 2.30 AM.
Devotees will be allowed for Darshan from 2.30 Am via West Temple Tower.
The deity will be taken in procession from Mahamandapam via internal corridors of the temple and reach ‘Paramapadavasal’ by 4.30 AM.
The Paramapadavasal will then be opened with the Lord offering His presence to one of the Vaishnavits Alwars, the deity of Nammalwar.
This will be followed by chanting of Vedaparayanam and Nammalwar’s Thiruvaimozhi Pasuram kowns as ‘Tamil Vedam’.
After this the deity of Lord parthsarathy will be taken to Thiruvaimozhi Mandapam in the Punyakoti Vimanam till 9.00 PM to offer darshan to devotees.
The festival of ‘Rappathu’ will continue till 10th January. The presiding temple deity will be presented assuming different forms as Venugopalan, Thiruvenkadamudaiyan, Rajamannar, and Govardhanagiri offering Darshan to the devotees.
‘Muthangi Sevai’ will be performed on 7th January. ‘Nammalwar Thiruvadi Thozhal’ is scheduled on 10th January.
Paramapadavasal Sevai will be offered for the devotees at 5.45 PM from 2nd January till 9th January and at 10.30 Am on 10th January.
