INDIAN DOMESTIC IT SERVICES MARKET GROWS FASTER…

The fast growing country`s domestic IT services market is expected to be worth nearly USD 14 billion in the next four years, courtesy increased government spending, according to research group Gartner. "The country`s domestic IT services market is expected to see a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 16 per cent by 2014, which would make that market worth USD 13.6 billion," Gartner`s Senior Research Analyst Arup Roy said.  The domestic IT services market generally comprises of delivery of products and services were worth about USD 9 billion during 2009.
Large government spending in areas such as e-governance coupled with high consumer spending resulting in boost in economic growth, which in turn increases demand for IT services, are major factor for the growth of IT services market in the country. Apart from this government’s large projects such as that for defense projects is continuing to drive IT services applications in 2010 and 2011.

e-governance and e-government projects, a national identity programme and large-scale digitization programmes both at the central and state level should create IT services demand according to the survey. Further according to Gartner, IT management services would grow in areas such as data centre, business continuity/disaster recovery, security and networks as many domestic organizations are focusing on IT infrastructure efficiency. Roy said the growth would also provide good job opportunities.
