Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways flagged off a new weekly superfast express train between Chennai Central – Visakhapatnam and announced the commencement of Chennai Central – Kamakhya Premium air-conditioned express next month.

Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Union Railway Minister, while addressing the gathering said, “ I am stressing the importance of providing comfortable train journeys to passengers, customer service and on safety and security. Southern Railway has provided amenities of food plaza, ready to eat meals and 1322 – RPF helpline number – functioning well in Southern Railway. I would like to state  that gauge conversion works between Palani – Pollachi for a distance of 63 kms have been completed. I would also like to mention that importance of cleanliness at railway stations, premises and railway tracks and so bio toilets will be very efficient in improving cleanliness. Many are asking me that whether the train tickets price will come down because the diesel prices have been slashed. I would like to state that the financial status of Railways is in dire state.  Hence there can be no reduction in train tickets.”
