Free consultations at the doorsteps of elderly people in the city will be done by M V Hospital. Launching the `Diabetes Care in the Elderly Programme`, head and chief diabetologist Dr Vijay Viswanathan said his hospital staff would conduct a door-to-door survey to identify diabetics aged above 65 years. These patients will be given free consultations on prevention of diabetic complications like foot amputation and kidney failure. Speaking on the occasion, health secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan said research can help to sensitize people on non-communicable diseases.
