Reliance has started resuming opening of its petrol bunks following the relaxation of price limits on diesel.
Reliance has opened 20% of 1432 petrol bunks under its possession.
Reliance shut down operation on all 1432 petrol bunks under its possession during March, 2008.
As the public oil corporations were selling at subsidised prices, Reliance had to face heavy losses. Moreover, sales also reduced.
With the price restrictions having been relaxed now, Reliance has taken the decision to reopen 230 petrol bunks. It plans to open all the remaining bunks gradually during this year.
Only 2 private companies, Reliance & Essar, have set up petrol bunks in India.
