Central Minister, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, has informed that the government has plans for organic production of bio-diesel.
India spends about Rs. 6 Lakh Crores for buying crude oil. This amount fluctuates depending on the prevailing value of the US dollar leading to additional expenses sometimes.
Hence, the government has plans to implement organic production bio-diesel in the country.
Currently, some plants including the plant in Viskhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and INCU are producing bio-diesel. Vizag plant produces 1500 tons per day and INCU, 100 tons per day. The products are exported to European countries.
Private entrepreneurs have been successful in manufacturing bio-diesel by extraction from seaweeds grown in the village of Kodur in Kadapa district.
The minister suggested that the pump sets & tractors used in agricultural activities throughout the country should be made to operate using bio-diesel while there is another benefit of less pollution by using bio-diesel. The minister undertook visiting these bio-diesel plants on his own personal interest.
