10 Crore persons have joined the Direct subsidy scheme for LPG Cooking gas cylinders!

So far, over 10 Crore persons have joined in the Direct subsidy payment scheme for LPG cooking gas cylinders.

This has turned out to be the world’s largest direct subsidy payment scheme.

There are 15.3 Crores consumers with LPG cooking gas connections. Indian Oil, Bharath Petroleum, and Himdustan Petroleum distribute the LPG cooking gas cylinders for these consumers.

There have been 9.25 crores transactions so far under the direct subsidy payment scheme.

An amount of Rs. 3654 Crores has been as a total direct subsidy payment to the saving bank accounts of the cooking gas consumers.

An advance of Rs. 568 is paid for the consumers who join this scheme. After that, Rs. 299 will be paid per cylinder as subsidy for the purchases made.

The price of non-subsidised cylinder is Rs. 600/-. The price of the cylinder with subsidy is Rs. 404.50.

Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, The central Minister for Petroleum, hoped that 75% to 80%  of the cooking gas consumers will join the direct subsidy payment scheme before the budget session, scheduled on 23rd February.

Jandhan Scheme:

Excellent progress has been recorded in the Prime Minister’s Jandhan Yojana, a scheme to make bank services available for all citizens. More than 10 Crores persons have opened saving accounts. The accounts opened will facilitate the payments of direct subsidy by the government for the LPG cooking gas cylinders.
