Medical practitioners have warned that being overweight can lead to liver cancer.

Treating liver cancer is among the most complex processes.

This is because liver is surrounded by various vital organs in the structure of human body and it is located rather deeper in the human body structure.

Liver treatment experts Dr. Prasannakumar Reddy and Dr. Balachander from Chennai Apollo Hospitals had a session with press reporters on Friday, 6th February. They informed:

Out of the people affected with lung cancer, 94% live for 5 years only. Only the balance 6 %  liver cancer patients get to live beyond 5 years.

Also, most of the patients come for treatment only in the advanced stage of liver cancer. Hence, surgery could be done only for 20% of the patients.

If cancer is hereditary, liver cancer may afflict diabetics, smokers, tobacco users, and obese persons.

An International Conference is scheduled to be conducted on Liver Cancer sponsored by Apollo Hospital on 8th February (Sunday) in Chennai.

300 liver treatment specialists from India, and liver treatment specialists from foreign countries are participating in this seminar.

Discussions will be held on the current scenario on liver cancer and its surgery during the international conference.
