Massive victory of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana scheme

Speaking about the newly launched bank account scheme Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, President Pranab Mukherjee said on Monday that 13.2 crore bank accounts are so far been opened under the scheme which has accounted for Rs 11,000 crore deposit.
During his addressing speech in a joint sitting of Parliament prior to the budget session, he pointed that the ambitious scheme of PMJDY will offer its customers universal access to banking.
Out of these accounts, 11.5 crore Rupay debit cards are issued, he added. The expected target is achieved is lesser than 6 months which is the largest of such programs globally, he acclaimed.
The PMJDY was kick-started last year by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to this, at least one of the family member was told to get a bank account in each and every household. Benefits of this scheme includes RuPay debit cards, accident insurance of Rs 1 lakh, facility of micro insurance, to name a few.
