On the instruction of the Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi recruitment of 10,060 persons to the police force will be speeded up, according to a government press release. The order is to recruit to fill up the vacancies and people who have already selected will be asked join duty subject to formalities such as medical test and good conduct examination.
According to the release 3 per cent reservation for the Arundhatiyar community, that 293 persons from that community, 3.5 per cent that 263 persons from the Muslim community will be recruited. Nearly 2069 Adi Dravidars, 94 belonging to the scheduled castes, 3,343 from the Backward Classes and 2681 from the Most Backward Classes would be recruited. Closer 2673 women would be selected. The break-up of the total vacancies is as follows: SI – 1095; constables – 8,944; jail warders – 486 and fire force – 630.
