Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation’s Managing Director Mr. Kamaraj informed that all ration shops will be supplied with Amma salt to be distributed throughout Tamil Nadu before 15th March.
‘India Salt Summit Conference 2015’ was held in Guindy, Chennai, yesterday (Monday, 23rd February) for the South India Salt Manufacturers. Participating in the conference, Mr. Kamaraj informed:
Tamil Nadu stands 2nd in slat production at All India level. 70% iodine is present in the salt used by the common public. However, in villages and mountain-surrounded villages, salt without iodine is being sold. In order to prevent this, Amma salt is being sold in ration shops in Nilgiri, Pudukkotaai, and surroundings on a trial basis.
This plan will be extended to all ration shops in Tamil Nadu before 15th March.
Activities have been undertaken to sell Amma salt in other states like Rajasthan and Delhi.
