Chennai Corporation to take stringent action property tax defaulters

It has come to the notice of Chennai Corporation that some of the establishments like hotels, buildings and shop have not paid property tax for the previous year. Corporation officials have been warning such places and persons. Some of the shops and buildings have been sealed. Because of this severe action an amount of Rs 463 Crores was collected. As a next step, the Chennai Corporation has decided to collect property tax from the defaulters. For the first time a japthi vehicle has been introduced. There will be announcements from these vehicles in all the areas in Chennai asking the defaulters to pay the tax immediately. It has also been decided to seize the property of the defaulters.
