Increase in need for AC: renting opted more

As the heat level is increasing rapidly, people seek for air conditioners to stay protected from the heat. This has hugely increased the demanded for rented air conditioners. According to dealers selling out machines, cost of one tonne split air conditioner is Rs 1000 per month. This together with the installation charge of Rs 1500 and Rs 500 towards transport would account to Rs 3000 initially. However, according to most people who enjoy taking AC for rent, they feel this pricing is smaller considering the comfort it offers. Moreover, most of the dealers giving AC for rent also provide repairing and servicing done along with it. They say people opt for air conditioners – both split and windows, and air coolers as well.
Most of these rented ACs are sought by students from other states and IT professionals who share rooms staying in groups. According to dealers, they offer 1 tonne air conditioner for 6 months as a package of 9000 and it’s 9500 for a 1.5 tonne AC machine. Speaking to one of the dealers in Velachery, it’s said most customers are students and those belonging to other cities.
