The prices of pulses have been sky-rocketing in Chennai over the last few days!
1 kg of Bengal gram is up to Rs. 105/- from Rs. 90/-.
2nd quality Bengal gram price is up to Rs. 95/- per kg from Rs. 85/- per kg.
3rd quality Bengal gram is sold at Rs. 85/- per kg from Rs. 75/- per kg.
Black gram is sold at Rs. 95/- per kg from Rs. 85/- per kg.
Burma black gram costs Rs. 85/- per kg from Rs. 75/- per kg.
Green gram costs Rs. 115/- per kg from Rs. 105/- per kg.
Split gram costs Rs. 60/- per kg from Rs. 55/- per kg.
2nd quality split gram costs Rs. 55/- per kg from Rs.50/- per kg.
The prices sold at super market are Rs. 5/- more per kg from the above rates.
Tamil Nadu Grocery Traders’ Association President, Mr. S P Swarupan, informed that the price rise in pulses is basically due to unchecked on-line trading.
Further, the government has taken 25000 tons of black gram for distribution to ration shops.
