Posted on: 16/Apr/2015 11:23:11 AM
Mervin Alexander, Chief Post Master General has mentioned that the Postal Department has decided to offer space to park ambulance on 18 post office campuses in and around Chennai and other parts within the Tamil Nadu Circle. The Postal Department is in the process of identifying the 18 post offices where space was available. Hospitals and NGOs can pay a nominal rent to avail this facility. Once this was done, city residents could call the nearest post office for ambulance in time of emergencies instead of hospitals or ambulance service providers.

Ambulance services are now available in the post offices located in St Thomas Mount, Ambattur, Tambaram and Anna Nagar West. Ambulances are stationed in these places to attend to emergencies in the surrounding areas.
