On Indian Women Savings Day occasion, special arrangements were made in the Chennai Head Post Office at Anna Salai.
Savings accounts were opened for 300 women working under SEESHA (Samiti for Education Environment Social and Health Action) Service Organisation to facilitate improving their life standards.
Savings Accounts would be with Maduravayil Post Office. The function of distributing the savings accounts passbooks was conducted at Chennai Anna Salai Head Post Office.
Chennai Region Post Master General Merwyn Alexander, SEESHA Service Centre official Mr. Jayakumar Daniel distributed the passbooks.
Mr. Merwyn Alexander informed the reporters that Tamil Nadu stands first among the states in opening Post Office Savings Accounts.
Selvamagal Semippu Thittam, the recently introduced saving scheme for girl children, was growing at a very fast rate, more than expected level. Over 6,11,000 persons have joined the scheme. As compared to other states, Tamil Nadu leads in Post Office Saving Schemes..
