There has been summer rains in some districts of Tamil Nadu due to convection. Few days back there was thundershowers and lightening in Chennai. After that there were no signs of rains. At this juncture, the meteorological department has mentioned that there will be rains in the southern coastal areas of Tamil Nadu since there is new low depression lying in Andaman seas.
Meteorological department official while speaking about this said, “Few days back the upper circulation in over Comorin area has moved on to Lakshadweep. This has become weak. At this juncture a new low depression has been formed in the Andaman seas. This would bring rains in some of the coastal areas of South Tamil Nadu. There will be no rains in Chennai. The summer heat will continue.”
