New safety mobile application for safety of IT girls

A new safety mobile application has been introduced in Chennai for women IT professionals. The National Crime Records Archive say that when compared to other states, the crime against women is very less in Tamil Nadu. It is also significant to note that in the year 2014, the crime against women has been come down by 1.3%. 

Last year, 6,826 cases were registered in Tamil Nadu with regard to crime against women. Out of this 471 were attempted rape, 1,102 were sexual harassment cases, 1,479 were kidnap cases, 95 were dowry and 2103 were domestic violence and 292 were dowry harassment cases. 

Till 2013, the crimes against women were increasing but from the year 2014, the crimes rates against women were coming down. The reason for this is that awareness was created among people. Apart from this the police took action very sternly.

A software engineer Uma Maheswari  was raped and murdered on 13th February 2014. After this the IT companies took more precautions in the women employees’ safety. Women employees were sent with escorts to their houses. 

Mobile app for the safety of women introduced:     

A leading software company has developed an application for the safety of women. Women are advised to download this application. There are three kinds of alerts in this app. Once the woman presses the alert button, an SMS alert will also be sent to minimum of five friends and relatives of the user and a status will be posted on his Facebook and Twitter timeline which will be connected to the App.
