3-day program on astronomy for Std. 7-9 students

Tamilnadu Science and Technology Centre will conduct a 3-day program on ‘Astronomy and Astrophysics’ for Std. 7, 8 and 9 students from May 17 to 19 from 10 a.m to 4 p.m at B.M. Birla Planetarium (Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Gandhi Mandapam Road, Chennai 25).
Fundamentals of celestial coordinate systems, solar system, studies on the Moon, birth and evolution of stars, galaxies, cosmology and use of telescopes in astronomy will be some of the topics taught.
There will be practical observational sessions of stars, planets, deep sky objects and the Sun using modern telescopes.
Only 50 students will be admitted on a first-come-first served basis.
