Following the successful implementation of the project of ‘banking services for every citizen’ (Jandhan Yojana), the central government is all set to announce the scheme of PANCARD for everyone!
It was announced in the last budget all trading transactions over Rs. 1 Lakh will require PANCARD numbers.
However, a lot of difficulties have been encountered while implementing this regulation.
Especially in the rural areas, people did not possess PANCARDs.
There are around 24 to 25 Crores of families in India.
However, only 21 Crore PANCARDs have been issued so far.
Out of this, 7.5 Crore PANCARDS are of Corporate Category.
The Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Jayant Sinha accepted that most Indians do not possess PANCARDs. He also indicated, efforts will be taken to simplify the procedure to issue PANCARDs.
Arrangements are also being made for issue of PANCARDs applied online within 48 hours.. Special camps are scheduled to be organised in rural areas for issue of PANCARDs.
