CM EMPHASISES PROMOTION OF TOURISM IN THE STATE

Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi inaugurated the 37th India Tourist and Industrial Fair in Chennai on Tourism Minister and M. Subramanian, Chennai Mayor were present in the function. The Chief Minister in his speech emphasized the importance of promoting Tourism as the development of the Industry will lead to economic prosperity of the state. It was announced that the fair would be Environment-friendly .The Chief Minister was reminiscent of his recommendation to central Government Under Indira Gandhi to publish greeting cards depicting Indian monuments as a tool to promote tourism. M. Subramaniam the Chennai Mayor said that the wish of the Chief Minister that Chennai itself should be a tourist spot would be fulfilled with the fast-growing IT sector and automobile sector. He cited from Forbes magazine that had listed Chennai among 19 world cities witnessing fast growth.
Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services won the first prize for completing the stall. The second and the third prize went to Forest Department and Dairy Development Department respectively.
