Production of brinjal will be increased by the Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) with the help of new grafted technology. Brinjal plant will be grafted with ‘Sundaikai’ which can help increase the yield.
The grafting technology was tested in different locations in large scales by the department of Vegetables and Crops of the Horticultural College and Research Institute of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. This involved cultivation of a variety of brinjal in different parts of the state. Each and every variety was subjected to this method which involved Sundaikai in each of those.
Extension of the lifetime of brinjal plant is one of the major advantages of benefits the method yielded.
