Wearing of helmets for two wheel riders has become compulsory from 1st July. Now there is a lot of confusion prevailing among the people with regard to this. When asked a doctor about this, he said, “The helmet is to provide additional protection to your head. So we should be careful while buying the helmet. If it is big , there are chances to block your vision. If your try to adjust and ride you will get neck pain and in time of an accident the helmet will come out.”
However, there are a couple of factors one needs to ensure while purchasing a helmet.
Buy helmets with the button lock or clip on. Ensure that the helmet has D-Rings or double D-Rings. The button locks tend to unhook, when you crash at a speed of more than 60 kmph.
Low-quality helmets can end up being no protection for your life, feel professionals.
The visor quality is bad. Upon impact, it will break and cause more damage to your face.
Buy a helmet, which costs Rs 3,000 or more, and another one which you can get for Rs 500. Go to a terrace and drop them both. You will then know that the cheaper one would break into two.
