The central ministry of telecommunication has released its report on net neutrality. The report confirms ministry’s stand to protect net neutrality. Internet neutrality calls for the usage of any website or application without any additional charges in one fee.
Some of the telecom services companies had asked for charges to be levied for the usage of What’sApp, etc. This would entail additional charges for using those specific pages. Internet users protested against this measure.
A team of 8 experts headed by Mr. A K Bhargava was formed by the central government to take a decision on this issue. After analyzing all aspects, the team submitted its report to to the ministry of telecommunication. It emphasized the need to continue net neutrality. Broadband at lower charges should be made available. Any opposition to net neutrality must not be encouraged. “Airtel Zero’ plan must be operated with TRAI approval.
Internet applications like Skype & Wifi \ WhatsApp should be encouraged. All operations should strictly follow government rules & regulations. Cell-phone calls & internet-calls should be streamlined to be on the same platform. This stand has been appreciated and supported by Facebook & internet users!
