Mumbai High Court has ordered to cancel the ban imposed on sales of Maggi instant noodles.

With the complaint about the presence of excessive lead, Central Food Protection and quality Control Board banned the sales of Maggi instant noodles manufactured by Nestle.

Nestle filed a case contesting this ban in Mumbai High Court.

The case came up today for enquiry and Mumbai High Court has ordered to cancel the ban on sales of Maggi instant noodles.

The panel of judges headed by Justice V M Gande and P P Golubwala ordered that the ban order released by Central Food Protection and quality Control Board on Maggi instant noodles is in violation of rights as per Indian Constitution Act, Section-14.

The court ordered that the samples of all products to be sent to the food research centres at Punjab, Hyderabad, Jaipur. The court has demanded a feedback about the testing of these products within the next 6 weeks.

The court mentioned that the research laboratories which conducted the test were not the proper authorities.

If it is established that the content of lead is below permissible limits in the tests to be carried out now, the court has ordered that Nestle should be allowed to restart manufacture of Maggi instant noodles in India.
