SPELLINC hosts successful finals in Chennai

SPELLINC, an exciting inter school spelling competition organized by Linc Pen & Plastics Ltd, hosted its final round in the city today at Vani Mahal. This is the 12th chapter of this annual spelling competition.
Some of the schools that participated in the contest included D.A.V Boys Senior Secondary School, Presidency Girls Higher Secondary School, Wesley School, St. Michael’s Academy and Chennai High School among others.
The winning team consisted of S. MAANASA, M. NIVEDITHA, R. SUJANA from DAV MATRICULATION HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, GILL NAGAR. The first and second runners up were teams from DAV BOYS SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, GOPALAPURAM (ABHINAV VAIDYANATHAN, SHRAVAN R. KOUSIK,V. VIGNESH RAJENDRAN) and HOLY ANGELS` ANGLO INDIAN HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL (FAHIZA AFREEN, RIDDHI ROHIT,AKARSHIKA V) respectively.
SPELLINC is an annual contest that tests the knowledge and English vocabulary skills of school children from standard VIII to X.
SPELLINC has grown in stature and popularity over the years with more than 600 schools participating every year. The contest has been successfully hosted for 12 years running across all metro cities such as Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi and recently spread to cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur and Jaipur.
The preliminaries had been held in 75 schools in Chennai and neighboring areas and the Finals saw the students vie for the SPELLINC Rolling trophy, certificates gift hampers and cash prizes worth Rs 10,000, Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 for the winner, first and second runners up respectively. They went through various rounds of Spellings, Crosswords, Anagrams and word-making games to become the ultimate victor.
