Healthy Food Recipes - Vazhaithandu Soup (Plantain Stem Soup)

Ingredients:

1. Plantain Stem (Chopped) – 1 cup
2. Coriander Leaves – a few
3. Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
4. Pepper Powder – ½ tsp
5. Jeera Powder – ½ tsp
6. Salt – as needed
7. Corn flour – 1 ½ tsp
Method to Prepare:

1. Remove the outer cover of the plantain stem, cut it thinly into rounds removing the thread like fibres with your index finger. 



2. Then chop it into small pieces. Soak it in diluted buttermilk to prevent discolouration. 



3. Then drain the chopped plantain stem pieces completely and add it to the mixer jar.



4. Now add few coriander leaves to it.
5. Add required quantity of water and grind well.
6. Now filter this grinder liquid using the sieve and collect it separately.
7. Heat a pan and add this filtrate to it and allow it to boil well. Add a pinch of turmeric powder to it.
8. Allow it to boil well for about 3 to 5 minutes. Now mix the corn flour powder with little water and pour it to the boiling soup and mix well.
9. Again boil the soup for some time and then switch off the stove.
10. In a cup of soup, add required quantity of Salt, Pepper powder and Jeera powder.



11. Hot and tasty Plantain stem Soup is ready to serve!
